One night in particular, I was praying and thinking of my church’s Pastor and how if he really knew my heart and that my first instinct is not always to love or to be quick to listen, would he support my call to this ministry? If he really knew me, would he still encourage me to step into this role? And then, like it usually is with God, I heard Him quietly whisper to my heart, “Clorisa, I know you inside and out. I know your heart even better than you do. It’s me who is asking you to do this.” Lying there in the dark, my eyes filled with tears. I knew that God had a purpose for my life and I was filled with hope.

In the many months since that confirmation, I wish I could say that my hope never wavered. It would be dishonest to say that there weren’t days when I wondered if we’d ever meet all the requirements and raise the money to open this maternity home. But those fears have always been met with reminders from God’s Word that He is steadfast and asks us to trust in His promises.

The next four to six weeks are going to be very busy at Aaron’s House. We received our building permit from the city on February 28^th and have several work groups scheduled to volunteer their valuable time and energy. Our contractors will begin their work on March 12^th.

I’m so blessed and thankful to have been able to get involved with this amazing ministry 15 months ago.  We’re all very excited about the future of Aaron’s House and its impact on Cass county. Our volunteers and mentors are ready to offer hope and help for young girls who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. We continue to work toward that goal and we look forward to you joining us. A Prayer for Home

Bless this nest, Lord,

of fragile things,

encircling the breakable and broken

in grace,

in the ever warmth of Your wing,

in the sheltering shadow of Your face,

us the clinging ones,

You our clutch of hope,

singing to us the song

of home.

As a friend to Aaron’s House, I’d like to give an update on our progress so you will know what we have going on and what is around the corner.

The upstairs of the maternity home is completely renovated! We’ve been able to host two events at Aaron’s House to allow our partners, volunteers, and supporters an opportunity to see how beautiful this home has become, thanks to our wonderful volunteers! Each person who walks through the front door has been overwhelmed by the creativity and care that went into preparing this house to be a “home” for the girls who live here. I am so thankful for our wonderful volunteers!

In October, we began meeting with companies who would help us meet a city requirement for a Fire and Smoke Alarm System. We will also be installing a Sprinkler system over the next year. We are now moving forward with the fire alarm system and it should be installed by mid-January. The pending items needing to be finished before we can officially take occupancy are as follows:

• Overnight Staff/House Mom position must be filled
• One restroom facility must be ADA (American’s with Disabilities Act) compliant

We were disappointed that we were unable to take occupancy in November, as we had planned and hoped for. However, we want to make sure this home is as safe as possible for the young women and Staff who will live here. Over the next few weeks, we will continue working hard and we’re looking forward to all God has in store for Aaron’s House in 2012!

As I’ve shared with you some of our requirements in order to get the home open, it is plain to see that these things cost money. Please consider giving an end of year gift to our ministry or donating to our Brick Fundraiser (see Current Fundraisers).

We have been very busy this year renovating the upper level of Aaron’s House and I’m so thankful to be able to share that it is finished. We have a couple of items that still need to be taken care of before we’ll be ready to take occupancy of the home.  Those pending items are in process and if you’d like to read more about them, please continue reading the Posts in the Director’s Blog. We are more anxious than anyone to be able to welcome the first client to Aaron’s House!

Founder, Jeannine Eddins

The vision of Aaron’s House comes from Founder, Jeannine Eddins’ own testimony. “When I was fifteen, I got pregnant. Needless to say, I was very scared and uneducated about my options. Unfortunately, I ended up having an abortion. The lingering affects of that pain truly messed up my life. I went down the path of alcoholism and this in turn affected many areas of my life. It’s only been in the last few years that I’ve been through the healing process, part of which involved grieving for the son I never had. By naming my child Aaron, I’ve given a face to the child I lost. My heart cries out for my son and the over 47 million babies that have been lost to abortion and through Aaron’s House I celebrate the precious gift of life that God has given each and every one of us.”
